Xena & Gabrielle's
Comments on Episode 101 & 102
Plot: Introduction of all the main characters. Lindsay gives birth to a baby boy who Justin helps to name Gus. You learn a bit about the relationship between Brian & Lindsay. You also learn that there is some tension between Melanie & Brian.
Xena's Comments: I didn't fall in love with this show during episode 1 & 2. Neither Melanie or Lindsay were in it very much. I couldn't understand why they would pick Brian to be the father of their child. Actually, on the DVD, you see a deleted scene of Melanie & Lindsay talking about Brian and money that would have helped a lot with the character development (click here to see screen caps from the deleated scene). All in all it was okay. I admit that it was nice to see dykes on tv.
Gabrielle's Comments: From the beginning I was ready to enjoy Queer as Folk. I knew it was based on a British show of the same name, though I had not watched any of the original. The first line of the show is "The things you need to know is that it is all about sex". After you start watching episodes 1 and 2 you will realize that you have NEVER seen anything like this on American television before!! My biggest disappointment is that from the beginning, the storyline for our soon to be favorite lesbians makes NO SENSE. If you get a chance to watch the deleted scene from these episodes which is available on the DVD you will get more of the background necessary to understand what is going on between these women.
