Xena & Gabrielle's Comments on Episode 116

Plot: It's "Dyke Night" at Babylon and Melanie goes there with Ted & Emmett Melanie then decides to try and talk to Lindsay, only to find out that a Frenchman is living there now. Melanie then goes searching for Brian to find out if he knows what is going on. Brian calls the house and they all listen to the new answering machine message which makes it sound like Guillaume & Lindsay are a couple. The entire gang goes over to find out what is going on only to learn that Lindsay plans to marry Guillaume so he can stay in the country.

Xena's Comments: I should start by saying I hated Guillaume. Really hated him. So, I guess the storyline didn't really work for me. I couldn't believe how quickly Lindsay would let this guy move in. There were some classic Melanie moments in this one. When she walks right into the boys locker room at the gym was great. The scene when Brian is lighting Melanie's cigarette was another scene I really liked. And having the whole gang storm the house to see what was really going on was great. Made for a couple of funny moments during a serious scene. Thea Gill did a great job in this episode. Even though we don't see a whole lot of Lindsay, the scenes are memorable and you really get the feeling that she is doing what is best for her and Gus. We must remember that Melanie was the one who cheated and Lindsay really shouldn't be expected to take Melanie back with open arms. On a side note, I thought it was so lucky for Melanie that she was single on the one night of the year that Babylon holds a "Dyke Night". Okay, that's the cynic in me :). She did look great though. Melanie wouldn't be standing at a bar alone for long in the real world.

Gabrielle's Comments: While some people were shocked that Lindsay would so quickly go into financial plan B by marrying Guillaume, I thought that it showed her tenacity to do what she had to do to provide for her son. There was no guarantee that she and Melanie would get back together. It also played into the do-gooder side of her character. The "marriage" would help both parties. I loved the confrontation scene where everyone goes over to Lindsay's house to see "Just what the hell is going on!" I particularly liked when the gang leaves and Mel declares "Shotgun." Prepare yourself for the rare occurrence of Dyke Night at Babylon. At least in QAF Season 1 the writers don't have every lesbian there wearing a strap-on dildo. We get that in QAF Season 2...UGGHH! Do not get me wrong, I like toys as much as the next gal. I just don't tend to wear them out in public as an accessory. Forgive me my rant, you will get to read much more about my feelings on this later.
