Xena & Gabrielle's
Comments on Episode 112
Plot: The tension between Melanie & Lindsay reaches a boiling point. Brian, who still isn't speaking to Michael after what happen at Michael's birthday party, starts spending a lot of time at Melanie & Lindsay's house. Lindsay confesses her worries about Melanie to Brian while Melanie tries to get Brian out of the house.
Xena's Comments: Even with all the tension, this episode had some funny moments. Melanie turning to Ted to get rid of Brian was a great scene. Aside from that, this episode totally set up the events in the next episode. I thought it was well done. Interesting revelations about why Lindsay was the one to give birth to Gus (would like it if the writers would go into more detail about that). This episode actually broke my heart. I am not sure that anyone who is - or has been - in a relationship isn't able to relate to both Melanie & Lindsay in this one. We have all gone through periods of poor communication. Lindsay turning to Brian to tell her troubles to bothered me. No surprise really. I'm always bothered by the way Lindsay is with Brian. Anyway, the end of this, when Melanie starts crying, really pulled at my heart strings. Even looking at the pictures made me almost tear up.
Gabrielle's Comments: Time for Thea Gill to show that she is the most underutilized actor on Queer As Folk. This episode continues the build up of tension between Melanie and Lindsay. They have trouble communicating and find they have a temporary addition to their lives, Brian. Brian is hanging out with them because he dramatically pushed Michael away in the last episode. Mel has been accusing Lindsay for several episodes that she is uncommunicative. Be careful what you ask for, as Lindsay lets loose on Melanie in a way that only a cold, repressed WASP could (I should know, I use to be one before I met Xena.) Pay close attention to the end, because it is here that we learn Lindsay had the baby because Melanie could not. Good work Thea!!
