Here is a list of websites and/or phone numbers of various companies, organizations, etc. which we feel could be helpful to lesbians living or working in the Washington DC Metro Area. This list is not complete at all. We will be adding much more as we learn about other organizations. If you know of one not listed here, please let us know.

  • American University GLBTA - The Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, Transgender, and Ally (GLBTA) Resource Center works to strengthen and sustain an inclusive campus community that welcomes people of all sexual orientations and gender identities by providing support, educational resources, and advocacy.

  • Bi-Racial and MultiEthnic Lesbians of Colour - A group for ethnically and racially mixed lesbians 25 to 50, exploring their life experiences as BiRacial and MultiEthnic lesbians of colour, who are interested in issues exploring multiculturalism, diversity as they relate to the issues of identity, sexual orientation and social perspectives in the lesbian community. Intelligent discussions ranging from current political observations, self perception, cultural identification,interests, goals. Offering support to women who embrace the multiplicity of their ethnicity.
    This Group is centered in the Washington DC metropolitan area, but all BiRacial, and MultiEthnic lesbians are encouraged to join, participate, meet and create a supportive environment.
    There will also be planned activities exploring issues of diversity, cultural sharing, movies, attending events, all done in an attempt to foster a caring creative lesbian community for women who refuse to deny any aspect of their heritage in order to satisfy others.
    The intent is to to give a more linear analysis of the issues that affect our daily lives.
  • The BiNetwork DC - An all-volunteer social group for bisexuals and our friends in the Washington D.C. Metro area, including downtown D.C., Montgomery, and Prince Georges counties in MD; Arlington, Alexandria, Fairfax, Loudon and Prince William counties in Northern VA.; and adjacent areas. We are committed to providing safe space for bi people to make new friends and get support.

  • Black Lesbian Support Group (BLSG) - Established in 1990 to provide a positive medium through which Black Lesbians may communicate with each other. BLSG offers supportive services and interaction in the Lesbian and Gay community. BLSG strives to increase the visiblity of black lesbians in the Lesbian and Gay community. BLSG is a non-profit organization funded through the Lesbian Services Program of the Whitman-Walker Clinic in Washington DC. BLSG is rapidly growing and expanding. Our goal is to reach as many Black lesbians as there are in the Washington-DC Metropolitan area.

  • Burgundy Crescent Volunteers - Washington DC's LGBT social volunteer organization for singles and couples, helping gay and gay-friendly non-profit organizations.
  • Classic Dykes - Established in 1998 as "the cyber home for lesbians in midlife and beyond", Classic Dykes has grown into a virtual meeting place for mature lesbians on the Internet. You will find a lot of interesting articles about health, relationships, and issues affecting this demographic.

  • Family Pride Coalition - Advances the well-being of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgendered parents and their families through mutual support, community collaboration, and public understanding.

  • Food & Friends - They prepare, package and deliver meals and groceries to more than 1,100 people living with HIV/AIDS and other life-challenging illnesses such as breast, lung and colon cancer throughout Washington, DC and 14 counties of Maryland and Virginia. For more than 14 years, Food & Friends has provided food and companionship to clients, their loved ones and caregivers.

  • Mothertongue - For over two-years, mothertongue has encouraged women in the Washington, DC area to share their voices through monthly open mic and spoken word events. These performances have become a staple in the DC arts and women's communities, providing much needed social and artistic space for women writers/performers and the people who support them.

  • Out on the Runway - Bringing together gay, lesbian and bisexual aviation enthusiasts in the Mid-Atlantic region.

  • Senior Health Resources (SHR) - has been established to provide a full array of quality health-related services for the Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual and Transgender (GLBT) community. SHR focuses on individuals over age 40, and their community of family and friends who reside in the Washington, DC metropolitan area.

  • SMYAL - A safe place for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and questioning youth ages 13-21.

  • Rainbow Youth Alliance of Columbia/Howard County, Maryland - An organization designed to provide a safe space for GLBTQ youth (22 and under). Our meetings are at 7:30pm on the 2nd and 4th Tuesdays of each month, at the Owen Brown Interfaith Center, 7426 Cradlerock Way, in Columbia, Maryland

  • Whitman-Walker Clinic Lesbian Service Program - Not only do they provide health services, but they also provide support groups and monthly workshops for all lesbians in the community.

  • Women in their 20's - A group for lesbian, bisexual, transgender & other interested women.

  • Youth Pride DC - Supports and organizes events for LGBT youth in the DC Metro area.
