Here is a list of websites and/or phone numbers of various companies, organizations, etc. which we feel could be helpful to lesbians living or working in the Washington DC Metro Area. DC

  • GayDC.net - DC's Gay & Lesbian Online Community.

Maryland

  • Free State Justice - Dedicated to promoting and protecting the rights of the LGBT community in Maryland.

  • GLC - Graduate Lambda Coalition of the University of Maryland welcomes all students, especially graduate students who identify as lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender or straight ally.

  • LIFE (Low-Impact Fun, Etc.) - Group of Maryland is a social group for women in Maryland, Washington, D.C., and Virginia. . . and beyond!

  • Maryland Women's Rugby - Team holds practice in Hyattsville, Md. (Metro accessible). For information call, 301-864-1705.

  • NCAGLSEN VA/MD Chapter of GLSEN - Creating safe schools for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people.

  • Southern Maryland Social Group - includes gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender people in the Southern Maryland region of Calvert, Charles, St. Mary's, and southern Anne Arundel and Prince George's Counties. The group was established in September 1989 to provide opportunities for our members to enjoy our lives and friends through camaraderie and mutual support.

  • University of Maryland LGBT Resource Center - Located on the campus of the University of Maryland, it provides services to LGBT students and alumni.

  • Women's Volleyball - in Silver Spring, Md. For more information call Susan Hodges at 301-608-8285.

Virginia

  • Alexandria Gay & Lesbian Community Association - A nonpartisan, nonprofit organization providing educational, advocacy, social, and service support to the gay and lesbian community of Northern Virginia. Holds regular events.

  • Alexandria Socialites - bowling and schmoozing league. Requirements: be a lesbian. Fall through spring, 6 PM For more information, contact Barbara at 703-222-4258.

  • The Alexandria Office of Human Rights - Created by the Human Rights Ordinance of the City of Alexandria, it servers as the City's liaison to the Commission. It's focus is on granting equal opportunity in housing, credit, employment, etc.

  • Arlington Gay and Lesbian Alliance - The Arlington Gay & Lesbian Alliance (AGLA) is a nonpartisan organization that strives to improve the quality of life and meet the needs of the Gay and Lesbian community throughout Arlington. We are committed to creating an organization that reflects the diversity of the Arlington community and building relationships with business and civic groups and community leaders. Our work includes: Community Service, Social Activities, and Political Awareness.
  • Dulles Triangles - A social club for area LGBT people and their family and friends. The purpose is to offer an alternative outlet for social activities, to promote both physical and mental well-being and to participate in the gay community activities and services.

  • Fairfax Alliance for Citizen Equality (FACE) - FACE strives to end discrimination against persons who are, or who are perceived to be, gay, lesbian, bisexual, or transgendereed.

  • Fairfax Gay and Lesbian Organizing Project - A nonpartisan organization that strives to improve the quality of life and meet the needs of the GLBT community throughout Fairfax County.

  • GayRichmond.com - Providing information on gay life in Richmond, VA.

  • LGBT Resource Center - Works to raise awareness and inclusion of sexual and gender minorities at the University of Virginia.

  • Serpentine Society - UVA's GLBT Alumni Association.

  • Virginians For Justice - Advances equal justice for GLBT citizens of the Commonwealth of Virginia.

  • Virginia Partisans Gay & Lesbian Democratic Club - a nonprofit organization, serving as a channel for the participation and involvement of gays and lesbians in the Democratic Party in the Commonwealth of Virginia.

  • Virginia Wome's Rugby - team holds practice in Fairfax, Va. For directions call, 703-715-6888.
