Stanley Voted Coach of Year
 Friday, August 16, 2002; Page D10

Marianne Stanley, who led the Washington Mystics to their first winning season in her first year as coach, was the runaway choice yesterday for the WNBA's coach of the year. In addition, second-year guard Coco Miller was voted the league's most improved player.

Stanley received 22 of a possible 60 votes in balloting by a panel of writers and broadcasters who cover the league. Lin Dunn of the Seattle Storm was second with nine votes. The Mystics improved from 10 victories to 17 under Stanley. Their previous high for victories was 14 two seasons ago.

With 1.7 points and 6.9 minutes per game as the ninth player selected in the 2001 WNBA draft, Miller averaged 9.3 points, 2.6 assists and 3.6 rebounds this season. She had 14 votes to 12 for Tamika Whitmore of the New York Liberty.
