Mystics 4 Ever LogoWho Is Mystics4Ever?

I have been a Mystics season ticket holder from day one of the 1998 season. I can still remember the excitement and energy in the air when the Washington Mystics played their very first game, a preseason game against the New York Liberty. The MCI Center was packed with screaming fans, excited that we finally had our own WNBA team! And the excitement has never left for me or for the other Mystics fans who continue to come to games to support their team and see some great basketball.

I remember many games over the years that came down to the wire, keeping me screaming and cheering so that I was so hoarse I couldn't talk for days, but the one event that stands out most in my mind occured during the Mystics/Comets game in June of 2000. Tausha Mills was just a rookie but already a crowd favorite. She was standing on the court (not moving, just standing there) and Houston's Cynthia Cooper was bringing the ball up the court and ran into Tausha at full speed (honestly, how could she possibly not see Tausha, who is 6'3" and 232 pounds!). Tausha didn't budge but it was as if Cynthia ran into a brick wall... she hit the floor like a ton of bricks and had to leave the game. And what did the officials do ? They called a foul on Tausha!!!! Talk about loud BOOS!!!!

I really don't have a favorite Mystics player ... I admire all of them, although I do love it when the crowd yells LUUUUUUZZZZZZZ whenever Helen Luz comes into the game. I am also looking forward to watching Maren Walseth play. I went to quite a few Penn State games while she was there and saw her play in the Final Four in Philly.
