Mystics 4 Ever LogoMystics Lose Homecourt Advantage In Playoffs

The Mystics lost to the Charlotte Sting 67-57 on Tuesday, August 13th, and ended up in 3rd place in the Eastern Conference, thus losing the homecourt advantage to Charlotte. The first game of the best two-out-of three playoffs will be at the MCI Center (this will be the only first round game in Washington) on Thursday, August 15th, at 8PM. The second game of the series will be in Charlotte on Saturday, August 17 at noon. If a third game is necessary, it will also be in Charlotte on Monday, the 19th.

The Mystics finished 17-15, their best season ever, but they faded in the latter part of the season. They seemed to struggle in this 67-57 loss, with 15 turnovers to Charlotte's 11, and 20 personal fouls compared to only 11 for the Sting. The high scorer for the Mystics was Vicky Bullett with 11 points and 6 rebounds. Annie Burgess and Helen Luz both had 10 points and Chamique Holdsclaw had 8 points with 9 rebounds. Hopefully, the Mystics can regroup in the next two days and be ready to play the type of basketball the fans know they are capable of playing. A loss to Charlotte on Thursday at home would mean that the Mystics would have to beat the Sting twice in a row in Charlotte and that would be very difficult. So what the Mystics need now is for us, the best fans in the WNBA, to come out and show them we are behind them all the way!!
