News
Can't post a lesbian site without having a lot of Melissa news.
She is a rock goddess in the truest sense of the word.
Melissa's
DVD Available November 5th!
Melissa's highly anticipated DVD featuring exclusive concert
footage, behind-the-scenes footage from her "live...and alone"
tour, candid interviews and much more will be released to stores
on November 5, 2002! (Note, this was scheduled to be released Sept.
24th). Check out www.melissaetheridge.com
for more details on the release of Melissa's first-ever DVD!
Melissa
Etheridge went on tour last past summer. It kicked off on Aug. 6,
2001 in the DC area. You can read Xena's
review of the DC Concert.
Melissa's
autobiography titled "The Truth is...My Life in Love and Music"
is still available in bookstores. It hit bookstore shelves on June
19, 2001. The reviews were pretty good. We have both written reviews
of this book. Check out our Books section
to read what our thoughts are.

Some of the lesbian and bi female singers that we
love and think are worth checking out. If you know of one
that isn't listed, please contact
us. |
|
Indigo
Girls - Two talented ladies who not only entertain
with their music, but raise your political awareness as well. |
|
|
Melissa
Etheridge - If you like Rock, how could you not
like Melissa. |
|
|
Melissa
Ferrick - Considered the "other Melissa"
by many people, she has been rocking for a long time. She also
came out long before many of the other well known lesbian singers
came out (i.e. Melissa, Indigo Girls, etc.). |
|
|
Janis
Ian - How many lesbians were able to relate to
the song "At Seventeen"? Well, this is the woman who
wrote and performed it. She has written many other great songs
since then and it's worth taking a look at her more recent stuff. |
|
|
Ani
DiFranco - "She's a passionate and volatile
guitarist, a fiercely poetic and politically minded lyricist
and a radical, revolutionary entrepreneur with her own Righteous
Babe record label."
|
|
|
Meg
Christian - "A leading performer and song
writer during the emerging lesbian-feminist movement. In addition
to groundbreaking albums I Know You Know, Face the Music and
Turning it Over, she was one of the organizers for Olivia Records."
- On a side note, Xena's favorite Meg song is still "Ode
To A Gym Teacher". |
|
|
Cris
Williamson - "Decades before the alternative
music market was formally coined, and light-years before women
enjoyed access to and influence in the recording industry, Cris
Williamson was busy making her mark and changing the face of
popular music." |
|
|
Tret
Fure - "Arguably one of the most multi-faceted
artists in the contemporary singer-songwriter arena, Tret Fure
is a musical anomaly. In additions to being heralded as a prolific
songwriter, Fure possesses an uncanny mastery of musical technology.
Over the years her wit and intrinsic sense of musicality have
endeared her to longtime fans and critics throughout the world." |
|
|
Alix
Dobkin - What a voice this woman has. If you don't
know who she is, you must check her out. Alix is another of
the out lesbians who have been around since forever. |
