Review of "Kissing Jessica Stein"

Loved it!!!!!! Jennifer Westfeldt and Heather Juergensen wrote and star in this fresh, witty modern romantic comedy. While conventional gender roles are absent, the age old question about the difference between platonic and romantic love is explored. Jessica Stein is a neurotic (and at times annoying, but ever so cute!) copy editor who should be pursuing her painting but instead chooses spend each day more miserable than the last because she is afraid to embrace happiness in her life. Helen Cooper (did I mention she is attractive as well...? Watch for the brown leather pants!) is a fabulous, cutting edge gal with a man for every occasion. It just so happens Helen is looking for more in a relationship and is willing to look for it in a woman. The two women meet through a personal ad Helen places and fumble through a hilarious and poignant courtship. Xena would be disappointed if I did not mention Tovah Feldshuh's performance as Jessica's mother. She was outstanding and stole each scene in which she appeared. Kissing Jessica Stein is definitely a movie that we will add to our DVD collection. We encourage you to patronize this indie film in the theater to show your support for a film that explores a theme of this nature. You will not be disappointed.
