ClubGrrlTitan at Hamburger Marys

Gallaudet University is known as the best school for the hearing-impaired. And on Saturday night, Titan appears to be where all of the school’s queer and queer-friendly folks go. Even if you’re not hearing-impaired, the bar is nice place to hang out and see a subculture-within-a-subculture in action.

The highlight of the evening is a sort of drag queen show around 11:00 with dancing afterwards. The bar is very clean, which is always a plus. Drinks are reasonably priced, about $5 for a beer or mixed drink. The crowd is mixed in terms of age, gender and those who are hearing-impaired and those who are not. Due to the Gallaudet, however, the clientele is generally younger. The bar hosts a larger number of women than men, but both are welcome. The music is of the typical pop variety, and the smallish bar manages to have a decent-sized dance floor and a pool table. And since Titan is right above the gay-friendly restaurant Hamburger Mary’s, its the perfect place to go for an after-dinner drink.
